STUDENTS
As you may have already heard, Governor Kemp has officially closed school for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. It was a lot to process the though of not getting to be with all of you for the end of the school year :'( . We never really got to say goodbye like we should have. I am sorry that the end of the year was taken away from you during this time. I wanted to let you know that this has been an amazing school year and I have loved being your 5th grade Math, Science, and Social Studies teacher. I loved the jokes we shared, the times I went off topic to share a personal story, and you all being excited to do a lab, activity, and a lesson. This has been one of my favorite years teaching and that is because of you all. WHAT NOW? Although we are not seeing each other in person, we are still learning online. The school day is now a lot shorter. Mrs. Hightower and I teach from 9 to 10:30 Monday- Friday. I make assignments on Flipgrid, Mobymax, and Dreambox. You need to make sure you know how to log into Clever in order to get on those applications. There is still an expectation for learning. Plus its a way for you to see all of your classmates. Parents: There are still a lot of unknowns. Although I am not taking actual grades, the lessons and assignments Mrs. Hightower and I conduct allow us to still monitor how your children are doing and where they need continued growth and support. This is a large time frame where students are out of the classroom and we want to limit the academic gaps as much as possible before middle school. No, unfortunately I do not know how the last 9-weeks report cards will go, but I do have to communicate with administration about the students who have not been doing digital learning. That may play a role, but again I do not know. With that being said, the applications we use are cell phone friendly. The majority of students who we are teaching are using their smart phones. If you have difficulty with attaining technology please reach out to me through my email as there are resources we can provide to help with any difficulties you may be having. Mr. Tromp [email protected] Great job guys and gals on your flip grid assignments. Please log back in as I made video comments for you all. I talk about the great things your doing and I also say how you can make it even stronger. You guys should be proud. you have already locked in 8 hours and 20 minutes of video responses. WOW!
