Attention all 5th graders! The Georgia Milestones Assessment will begin Tuesday, April 9th, after we return from Spring Break (April 2-6). A yellow letter from Dr. Jones and Mrs. Carstens already went home detailing the subjects and dates of the tests. Grades: Grades for the 4th quarter have already begun to be placed in the online gradebook. Please use your parent view login information to keep up on grades.
Awards: On Friday I told students who would be getting awards, today I sent those students home with the paper indicating what award they will be receiving. The award Ceremony is tomorrow from 9:25 to 10:00. Fieldtrip: This THURSDAY is our field trip and behind the scenes access at the GA Aquarium. To my chaperones, I will be sending home a paper tomorrow of the times for you to be at the school. The fieldd trip is Thursday, not Friday. MILESTONES: This is our last week before Spring Break. As soon as we come back students are taking the EOG assessment. Students need to be reviewing their notebooks. especially math: fractions (add,sub,mult, divide), all history, science (life science/ magnetism), and writing ( narrative/informational/ opinion). Homework: math- students will work on a hand out on plotting numbers/ patterns. Unit test will be on Tuesday. After that we will continue reviewing past concepts. Spelling- Only select students have words this week, they know who they are. Reading- finish T-chart that we started in class. you are only adding information about the 2nd article in the paired passage packet. Writing- No HW Social Studies: We have started the Cold War. Students need to be prepared to discuss information. Students must read pages 384-389 from there text books Math- review notebooks. go through the beginning with place value, powers of ten, expressions, multi digit multiplication, multidigit division, +,-,x,/, decimals, +,-,x,/, fractions. We are coming to Milestones, MATH FACTS MATHFACTS MATHFACTS.
spelling: study your words, we are on sort 25. play the games, write down your words, go over the meanings of the words. Writing: make sure you are adding transitional phrases to your writing that you have been workin on. you should be on your 4th paragrapph by this point. You should be using OREO to create your body paragraphs. Reading: look up the definitions on page 1 in your packet, it must be finished by morning work tomorrow. so get to class early and use the dictionaries. Dictionary skill is on the Milestones Science: Read pages 240-245 by the end of this week as it is what we are discussing. Complete the handout that I gave you. show me in the am and cut and glue it in your notebook it is crunch time ! Are you setting your self up for success? or just making excuses? Here is a filled out study guide for tomorrows Unit Test. Students should be able to hold a conversation with you about anything during WWII. Use this study guide as a gauge of what your child knows and understands.
