Awards: Parents, sorry for the late notice, but the award ceremony for students who received perfect attendance, and A-B honor roll will be tomorrow in the cafeteria at 9:25. I forgot to update the blog with that information. I will try and have someone take photos for those parents who are not able to attend.
Homework: Math: in student agendas, students wrote down 3 conversion problems that must be solved. 1.) 2 mi O 3,500 yards <,>, or = 2.) 7 yards O 20 feet <,>, or = 3.) 24 inches O 2 feet 3 inches <,>, or = ** we will have a quiz tomorrow after awards on measurement and conversion to check where student are. Spelling: Students ill write and practice sort 21 words that have a doubled letter. Reading: Students will work on page two from the packet in their red folder. They need to write what the "gist" of the introduction pages were from the book titled, "Promises to Keep: How Jackie Robinson Changed America". They also need to define the 4 words on the page as well. **** I will have the book pages and the questions uploaded later in case they forgot. Social Studies: Students must have pages 336-339 read. Students at this point should know alot of information about the Great Depression and the stock market. These pages were given to students last week, and it is expected for them to review and read the material several times. ** Social Studies UNIT test on the Great Depression will be next Tuesday. It will cover the stockmarket crash, the great depression, the dust bowl, the new deal and more... It is important that students are well read and prepared for their test. You should see them readding and studying their notebooks daily. Notebooks and text books go home and come back every day. Math: Mymath page 803 and 853. Parents, please review and go over measuring with your children. Go over an actual ruler or measuring tape. they need to know how to measure and read the measure ments.
Spelling: test tomorrow Reading: Test tomorrow. students will reread the passage we have been working on titled, "Sports in America" (its in their red folder). in side students will then answer the questions on page 3 about the article, which should be review for them. Lastly, on page 6, their are many vocabulary words, students are to look up at least 4 words and know their meaning. They need to think about why those words were important to use by the author. Science: We finished a unit test today in class, and will begin social studies tomorrow. No homework other than reviewing their science notebooks (physical chemical changes, matter, electricity and magnetism). Math: No home work, review past materials. Students who did poorly on the Unit test will be allowed to retake the assessment on Monday morning.
Spelling: write your words in a triangle Reading: Read the passage we read in class using the close read strategy. On the pink post it note provided, write what the "gist" of the passage was about. Writing: continue to look up information to support your claim about chocolate milk in school (optional) Science: Study guided were sent home and should be complete. Please be prepaired to complete the Unit test tomorrow. It will cover static electricity, circuits, magnets, and electromagnets. Today a field trip form was sent home. The field trip is in a couple weeks on February 16th, 2018. With this field trip we will be headed to the Cobb County Courthouse. Some students will be able to take part in a mock trial. It is a great trip that we go one every year. The cost of the trip is only 4 dollars. Please have the forms retured with payments ASAP please.
Grades: I have already updated some grades into synergy, and I will have additional grades input this weekend. If you have not done so at this point, please go to the front office and get a login into parent view. That way you are able to see grades as they are input. We have only been in school 7 days since the new year, so grades will be coming swiftly. Homework: Tuesday: math- review, Unit test on 2-D figures tomorrow Spelling- funky spelling. study words and write them out with a twist writing- write 2 lead paragraphs on why we should(n't) have chocolate milk in school. ** needs a hook, tell me what the debate is, your claim, and your reasons (3) Science- Unit test on Thursday, A study guide was given to all students to complete. They must know everything on static electricity, circuits, magnetism, and electromagnets. Parents, report cards were sent home last week and there are still quite a few envelopes that I have not recieved back with a signature. Please sign the envlope and return the form. Those envelopes are what we use to mail the final reportcard at the end of the year. Grades for Q3: This week I have already entered in a reading quiz, spelling quiz, a math classwork grade on creating a hierarchy, and a math quiz on geometry. All grades have been handed out to students and should be in their blue folders. The folders will go home on Tuesday. Students will only have tuesday morning to retake the math quiz if they failed. No School Monday 1/15/2018 Fieldtrip: Please have your children wear a red shirt, or the purchased 5th grade shirts for the field trip on Tuesday. ***** ATTN: Please ask your chidren if they said they were going to provide a home lunch for the field trip. ****** We have a scheduled 5th grade field trip next week to the Atlanta History Center on Tuesday 1/16/2017. However quite a few students have not turned in their fieldtrip forms or funds for the trip.
Funds and forms MUST be turned in this week. If we do not have the funds, the field trip will be cancelled. Math-- front and back page on polygons. some problems have multiple answers to circle.
Spelling- Study words, write next half of words in triangle style, or write words in crazy font on the computer Reading- Finish class work from sports packet. Page one. what opinion do you see in paragraph 3? write in the provided space. 2) paraphrase what evidence there is from the packet to support the claim. *** CLUE--- why do we have rules in games, what would happen if there were no rules, do rules make games enjoyable? how has games changed from prehistoric times to now. **** This was was to make you think hard. Inferences are difficult Science- Classwork that was not completed needs to be finished. Read and fill in the blanks on the sheet of paper provided. It will be collected for class work. Math- pages 925- 928.
Spelling-- sort 19-- write 1/2 of your words using triangle spelling Writing- if you did not finish in class, you need to work in your writing on why we should have chocolate milk in school. Reading-- reread the three small paragraphs from the packet and write a one to two sentence summary next to the paragraph. science- review what a parallel circuit is.
