Greetings Parents,
Standards mastery is the immediate goal for all students at Powers Ferry Elementary School. Mastering grade level standards greatly impacts the success of each student when taking standardized tests such as the Georgia Milestones Exam. With that in mind, the 5th grade team wants your child to be successful on all assessments. Therefore, if your child has received a grade that’s 69 or below, they will be given one additional opportunity to re-test in order to improve standards mastery/final score. A date will be provided for each retest given, if your child does not retest on the date given, then the original grade will remain as the final grade. Also, if your child obtains a score lower than the score on the original assessment, the higher score will be used as the final grade. Students can retest on quizzes and tests in Math, Science, and Social Studies. However, for ELA, grade recovery/retests are offered for tests only. Opportunities for re-test/grade recovery will be offered sharply at 7:15 – 7:45 on Wednesday. Again, it is your child’s responsibility to review the attached assessment, and to come prepared to take the new test. As always, we appreciate you for your support.
