Beliefs About the Classroom
My philosophy in education was founded through firsthand experiences over time and is ever-changing. What I have learned in my 5 years of teaching experience and believe to be crucial in education is that learning needs to be creative and engaging to all students. When learning is fun, it’s an inclusive and memorable experience. I also believe that every student is unique, and that differentiated instruction is required to meet the needs of all learners. I understand and have experienced first-hand how each student has different learning preferences and strengths. As a teacher who has taught E.I.P., E.S.O.L., and inclusion classes in a title-one school, I witnessed and truly understand that it is necessary to recognize each student, supporting them in every way possible. Lastly, I believe classrooms should be inquiry-based. Memorization of facts is not enough; only through curiosity, questioning, and seeking answers does one gain any depth to an understanding of the world. My overall goal is for student independence. |
