Good morning parents, please do not forget that this week school will be out early due to parent teacher conferences. School will let out 2 hours early like it did last week. Spelling-- Study words writing-- boxes and bullets. create boxes and bullets for your informational writing about the civil war Reading-- write 3 metaphors and and 3 similes Science-- finish the beach restoration page * Unit test on Friday On Friday I sent home the conference form for parent teacher conferences in the blue folder. On the form I have the date and time of our conference, please sign and return if you have not done so already. If you have any other children in our school, I have already met with their teachers and scheduled their conference back to back with them. That way you will only have to make one trip, and not wait hours at the school for the next conference.
Student grades are almost all updated, however there are a couple more that need to be input. Almost every Friday I send home graded work for your review, but I did not send home graded work this past Friday because will have them at our conference. Additionally, I did have one parent inform me that they can not see the grades that I have input into parent view, I have talked with the front office as I have no control over parent view. They are putting in a work order to have it checked out. So if you are having issues seeing grades when you log into parent view please let me know. If you need parent view, the office will be able to provide you with a login and password. :D ** Please bring in conference forms for parent teacher conference.
Math: page 621 from MyMath volume 2 on adding like fractions. Spelling: Study half of your words. We are on Sort 10. Writing: make sure you have several brainstorming ideas for a Civil War topic. We are moving into informational writing and will be doing research Reading: Finish answering the 4 other questions that are glued in your reading notebooks. Quiz on Esperanza Rising will be tomorrow. You should be on page 80 Science: read page 106-107 on dams and levees. Math: students were given division of decimals work sheet. Students are to do their best. check their answers with a calculator. Steps on how to solve are located in their notebooks.
Spelling: study words for spelling test on Friday Reading: Begin reading from page 57 up to page 80 from the text Esperanza Rising. Writing: continue to work on your final draft of your small moment story. Use your check list located in the back of your writing notebook for the rubric/ checklist Science: review notebook and text book on plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes. on your test on Friday you will need to label an earthquake and a volcano. you will also need to discuss how our Earth is both constructive and destructive. Math-- finish division of decimals using long division. Steps on how to solve are in your notebook
Reading: Quiz was pushed to tomorrow. Quiz will be on Esperanza Rising up to page 57. Writing: AGAIN, FINAL NARRATIVE WRITING will be due on Friday. Must be on a clean sheet of paper. Science: Create an Earthquake safety plan for Powers Ferry. If an Earthquake hits, what should be the steps we take in order for everyone to be safe. We are back from break, vacation is over, and its time to work :D
Math: students must finish the division of decimals with models work sheet. All answers will be a whole number. Parents, check their work by multiplying their quotient by the divisor. ex. 2.4 divided by .4= 6 check your answer: 6 x .4 = 2.4 Spelling: use both words (with and without spelling change) in a sentence. ex. submit and submission. Yesterday I tried to submit my application for safety patrol. However, I hope my submission is accepted because it was a day late. Reading: have up to page 57 from Esperanza Rising read. Have glued in pages completed about the different characters completed. There will be a quiz on it tomorrow as it was review from information before the break and should already be completed. Writing: students will be turning in their final draft of their small moment story on Friday. Students need to start working on their final draft to be collected. Science: Students will cut and paste the super continent Pangaea. Students have a model in their notebooks already. Students are to use the legend to fit their pieces together like a puzzle making sure specific plants/ animals match. |
